Who doesn’t have a memory from the famous Edgar’s Diner? Today, on the 4th anniversary of his passing, we honour Edgar Stoesz Kehler, whose Berliner personality ignited conversation and laughter, and who loved to serve up a bowl of Borscht, a Husky Burger or a tasty veal cutlet.

Eating at the Portage Credit Union Centre just got much more interesting.
The Portage Regional Recreation Authority announced Friday the concession and catering services at the PCU Centre have been awarded to local restaurant Horfrost.

Peter S.T. Kehler passed away peacefully July 24, 2009 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach at the age of 83 years.
Dad will lovingly be remembered by his wife Eva (Toews) and his children Clifford (Bev), Jerry (Brenda), Peter, Darlene (Bill) Hiebert, Darryl (Jackie), Sherry Pearl (Brad) Kallert, Jeff Funk, 15 grandchildren and their spouses plus two great-grandsons; as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Russell Alan James Kehler was born on December 20, 1959 to Henry and Susan Kehler.
Norman Kenneth Kehler, youngest son of the late David Stoesz Kehler and the late Katharina Wiebe Kehler and beloved husband of 19 years of Elizabeth Dawes, was set free on October 26, 2007, after years of living with cancer. Born in Selkirk, Manitoba, on May 15, 1959, Norman lived in Grand Rapids and Steinbach before moving to Winnipeg where he learned to play hockey and football on the street with his brothers. A new restaurant aims to serve up a fine dining experience in a hometown atmosphere. horFrost, Portage la Prairie’s newest fine dining restaurant, opened on Oct. 17. It’s owner and manager, Chris Kehler, is eager to welcome Portagers with a unique menu inspired by international cuisine.

Peacefully, after a long illness, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Edgar Kehler passed away on February 17, 2006 at Bethesda Hospital.He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Helen; children, Terry (Jacqueline), Tim and Chris (Charis); and grandchildren, Cassandra, Julian, Hunter and Ty. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary (Ike) Giesbrecht of Winnipeg, Betty (Gus) Dueck of Mitchell and Helen Hildebrandt of Steinbach; his brothers, Stan (Mary) of Mitchell, Ben (Martha) of Steinbach, Pete (Eva) of Steinbach, and Ernie of Calgary as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), in partnership with the Buried Heart Foundation, will host the Inside Out charity auction of offender art at the Elliott Louis Gallery on October 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The auction will feature more than 100 pieces of art created and donated by more than 50 offenders serving federal sentences. The artists – inmates from seven institutions in the Pacific Region as well as community parolees – have donated pieces ranging from native carved boxes and hope chests to paintings, stained glass and masks.
