Katharina Stoesz was born May 27, 1893 at Chortitz (Randolph), Manitoba. Her parents were Henry P and Helen Wieler.

She passed away Tuesday, August 1, at 6:45 pm at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach. She reached the age of 96 years, two months and 5 days.

She was baptized in the Chortitzer Church where she stayed a member with a very strong faith.

Agatha Kehler, nee Peters passed away July 28, 1989 in Steinbach, MB. Born Agatha Peters, in Reichenbach, MB on April 16, 1907.   On July 27, 1927, she married Rev. Henrich S. Kehler, who predeceased her on June 18, 1983.

Susanna S Wieler,  born April 27, 1897 in Ebenfeld, MB to Jacob “Berliner” & Elisabeth Kehler, passed away on July 26, 1988 in Winnipeg, MB. She was predeceased by her husband Henry U. Wieler March 13, 1970.

The funeral service will be held on July 31, 1988 at the Steinbach CMC, with burial at the Steinbach Memorial Cemetery.

On July 12, 1988 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Mrs. Helena Kehler, aged 87 years, of Steinbach, MB.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 18 at 2pm from the Chortitzer Mennonite Church in Steinbach with Rev. Bill Hildebrandt and Rev. H.K. Schellenberg officiating.

After a brief illness, on January 11, 1988, while on a visit to Hawaii, Rev. Reimer, beloved husband of Marie Reimer of Rosenort, MB died peacefully in Honolulu, at the age of 85 years.

He was born in Steinbach on October 18, 1902, the youngest son in a pioneer family of five sons and five daughters. As a good student in somewhat delicate health, he received special permission from his church to attend high school and become a teacher. He began his teaching career in 1922 and retired in 1967, having taught in a total of 43 years in southern Manitoba schools. Funeral service was held Monday, June 2, 2PM from the Chortitzer Mennonite Church in Steinbach with Rev. Bill Hildebrandt and Rev. John Stoesz officiating.  Interment followed in the Niverville Cemetery. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in his memory to the Bethesda Hospital Foundation, Box 939 Steinbach, MB R0A 2A0.

On April 24, 1986 at St. Boniface Hospital, Henry M. Grunwald, aged 48 years, of Winnipeg, beloved husband of Lena Grunwald.

Anne Ethel Kehler Penner was born on August 19, 1907 to Abram and Maria (S Kehler) Penner.  Anne’s  mother Maria, passed away when Anne was only one and a half years old. Her father Abram (Abraham) Henry Penner then married Katherine Kroeker Klassen on February 3, 1910. Her father passed away from Typhoid Fever  on November 19, 1920 in Medicine Hat, AB.   Anne’s step-mother Katherine then married Abram’s younger brother, Henry S. Penner in November 1921.

Anne married Herman John Ratzlaff on December 9, 1925 in Herbert, Saskatchewan. In June of 1930, a son Rayfield Glen Ratzlaff was born, and in 1932 a daughter Marilyn J. Ratzlaff completed their family. Continue reading “Anne Ethel Penner Ratzlaff (1907-1986)”

After many months of severe pain and suffering with cancer of the stomach, Norman B. Wiens passed peacefully to be with the Lord in glory at the age of 45 years and just under five months, near midnight of Christmas Eve, 1984.  He will be sorely missed by his loving wife Charlotte, his sons David and Paul, and his daughter Judy and her husband Bob Siemens.

Norman was born to his parents Peter T. Wiens and Margaret Wiens as their ninth child at McTavish, near Rosenort on July 28, 1939. He received his early education at Willow Heights, a small one-room school near McTavish. Continue reading “Norman Buster Wiens (1939-1984)”
