The deaths of three Manitoba teenagers, killed when their pick-up truck slammed head-on into a protruding combine header, have prompted calls for a review of the province’s highway legislation and industry safety standards.

The deaths of three Manitoba teenagers, killed when their pick-up truck slammed head-on into a protruding combine header, have prompted calls for a review of the province’s highway legislation and industry safety standards.   The combine was traveling Highway 422 south of Winnipeg after dark. It was equipped with lights, but the 24-foot header attached to the front of the combine was not. The header jutted across the highway into the path of oncoming traffic, said Morris RCMP Cpl. Thomas James Heinrichs was born on August 25, 1976 and died in a tragic traffic accident along with his dear cousin Rachel Kaylani Heinrichs and friend Michael Scott Cameron McCullough on August 23, 1994.

He leaves to mourn his parents, Jim and Marj Heinrichs; sisters, Jen, Kate and Sara and brother Bill of Rosenort; grandparents Syd & Helen Reimer of Rosenort, Dick and Phyllis Heinrichs of Morden plus a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

On July 8, 1994, at the Victoria General Hospital, Helen Grunwald of Winnipeg passed away at the age of 74.

She is survived by one son Harold and his wife Patricia of Landmark; daughter-in-law Lena Grunwald of Winnipeg; grandchildren, James, Mike Eileen, Linda and husband Craig, two great-grandchildren; one sister Elizabeth Giesbrecht of Winnipeg and her family. January 24, 1994 at 1pm, with her family at her side, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Lizzie Dueck went to be with her Lord and Saviour after a lengthy battle with a blood disorder.

Lizzie was born in Halbstadt, now known as Shakespeare, September 8, 1915. She was the third of 11 children born to Aron and Elizabeth Kehler.

At the age of nine she moved with her family to Stuartburn where the family farmed and her father worked as a carpenter. At the early age of 11 years, she went to work as a child care worker and housekeeper and for the next few years worked for Rev.
