It is with deepest sorrow that our family announces the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Jacob (Stoesz) Kehler, age 75 years of Steinbach, Manitoba. Jake is survived by his wife Helen of 52 years; one daughter Carol Penner (Jim)  and two sons Murray (Joanne) and Wayne (Sandi) and their families.

Dad was born June 14, 1924. Growing up on a farm, he learned many skills. He ventured out into the business world after working for C.T. Loewen’s and the McArthur Dam in Great Falls. He started and owned Jake’s Husky for 35 years. In those years our Dad made many friends, whom he continued to see until his death on March 26, 2000. His years in business were hard but enjoyable years. Our father was a people lover, as was evident in trying to socialize with all his visitors in his last days in the hospital, giving everyone a smile. His faith in God gave him strength to fight his illness courageously, especially the last year battling with cancer until his passing into the presence of the Lord.

The funeral service was held on Thursday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the Steinbach Chortitzer Mennonite Church with burial at the Heritage Cemetery in Steinbach. Viewing was held on Wednesday, March 29 between 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel and at the church prior to the service.
