Peacefully May 28, 1986 at the Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, Diedrich W. Dueck, aged 73 years went home to be with his Lord and Saviour.
Besides his wife Elizabeth, Mr. Dueck leaves to cherish his memory, five daughters Martha and John Neufeld of New Bothwell, Laverna and Walter Griffith of Winnipeg, Bertha and Ray Laing of Steinbach, Norma and Keith Roulston of Winnipeg, Rhonda and Donald Harms of Steinbach; two sons Peter and Phyllis Dueck of Winnipeg; Edwin of Mission, BC; 15 grandchildren and four great-grand children; one brother Peter and Helen Dueck of Mitchell; three sisters Annie Wiebe of Steinbach, Helen and John Klippenstein of Niverville, Katherina Dueck of Steinbach.
Mr. Dueck was predeceased by four sons, Ernie, Ervin and Melvin in infancy, and Danny in 1996 at age 21; two brothers John and Abe and three sisters Mrs. Jessie Wiebe, Mrs. Elizabeth Wiebe and Miss Maria Dueck.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 31, 1986 at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church in Steinbach with Rev. H.K. Schellenberg, and Rev. Bill Hildebrandt. Rev. C.G. Peters officiated at the evening prayer service.
Pallbearers were Russell Neufeld, Lawrence Neufeld, Blake Laing, Bobby Roulston, Peter P. Dueck and David Klippenstein.
Besides farming during the course of his life, he was an auctioneer in south-eastern Manitoba for many years. He served on the Hanover School Board for over 25 years. He worked for the Department of Highways from 1950 to 1958 and the Manitoba Pool Elevators, Livestock Division Union Stock Yards for 1958 to 1970 when he retired due to ill health.
